Microcurrent has been used for decades by doctors and physios to treat injury and encourage faster healing in patients. It has also been used in expensive facial treatments in salons and clinics for years to lift facial muscles. Magnitone has made this technology affordable and accessible for us to use at home to stimulate and tone our facial muscles and I have found this device even more effective than others on the market. I am a big fan of using microcurrent on my skin to plump and lift my face. Keep reading to find out why and how I use the device.
Why You Should be Using A Microcurrent Device
Microcurrent devices are essentially a workout for your face in a similar way to facial massage. I love to use facial massage in my treatments because it stimulates blood flow and nutrients to the surface of our skin, which helps our cells to heal and rejuvenate. In the case of microcurrent, small pulses of electricity penetrate deep into the skin to improve our blood circulation and increase cell turnover, which in turn boosts collagen and elastin production. Collagen and elastin are what keeps our skin looking plump, lifted and youthful.
Microcurrent is like strength training for the facial muscles, so the Magnitone Lift Off tones, contours and lifts the face, which results in more defined cheekbones and jaw. I notice an immediate lifting effect after using the Lift Off but when microcurrent is used on a regular basis, the results become more long lasting. ATP is one of the main chemical sources of energy in the body and you produce less ATP as you get older. There is evidence showing that when microcurrent is used regularly on the skin, it increases ATP production by recharging the cells and therefore improving the condition and look of the skin.
How to Use Lift Off
The Magnitone charges in two hours via a USB cable (so no bulky charging cradles) and this will give you over two weeks’ worth of treatments. The Lift Off has four different intensity settings and I would recommend that everyone start off with setting one, even if you have used other microcurrent devices in the past – this baby is powerful! It is important to use the Lift Off with the Prepare and Glide gel that comes in the kit, as this helps to conduct the microcurrent deep into the skin and it also makes it more comfortable to glide the device along the skin. The water-based gel is fragrance-free, hypoallergenic and won’t clog your pores.
The Lift Off beeps every 5 seconds so that you know when to start the next glide. I like to work in threes – three glides along the jaw, three glides from the corner of my mouth to my ear and then three glides along the cheekbone. I will then do the same on my forehead, three glides from my eyebrow to hairline, middle of forehead and then over the other eyebrow. I then finish off with the other cheek and jawline. I also like to lift and hold the device in a few areas on my face, for example above my eyebrow, on my cheekbone and on the jaw.
The whole routine takes less than five minutes so it’s really easy to fit in to your day. As with all skincare devices, compliance is key to getting results. I would recommend using the device every other day for the first month and then you can go down to twice a week to maintain the results.
Incorporating The Lift Off Into Your Routine
One of the great things about the Lift Off is that it is so easy to slot into your existing routine. It is important to cleanse before applying the Prepare and Glide Gel to remove any makeup, dead skin cells and oils from the skin. Once you have finished the facial workout, you can remove any remaining gel with a cloth and then you can carry on with applying your regular serum, moisturiser and SPF if you are using the device in the morning.
