THE HISTORY

Microcurrent has been used by doctors and physios for years to encourage faster healing of muscle tissue in patients, as well as in clinics and salons as a treatment to smooth the skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines + wrinkles and lift + tighten the muscles in the face and neck.

THE SCIENCE-Y BIT

Microcurrents are small pulses of electricity that stimulate the muscles to contract. This strengthens and tones them, as well as enhancing blood circulation and aiding lymphatic drainage.

Think of this as strength training or a HIIT workout for your face - working those muscles. Facial twitches during treatment are completely normal, it means it's working!

Microcurrent works by creating pulses of electricity.

The waves of these pulses are measured in 3 ways to determine their ‘strength’ - how long the wave is, how many waves per second and how sharp the ‘rise and fall’ of the wave is.

The FREQUENCY x DURATION is measured in microamps (mA). For a device like LiftOff®, it operates at 300-350mA and the intensity of the pulse is what changes with each of the settings. Which is why you need to start at level 1 and work your way up - level 4 would be far too intense straight away!
