The First Step to Blemish-Free Skin

The First Step to Blemish-Free Skin

The changes in seasons can play havoc with our skin and as Autumn approaches our skin will need extra TLC. It doesn’t matter what age you are, those unruly T-Zones and pesky break-outs can still appear, and always at the most inconvenient times!

Here is our advice for ensuring your skin stays in tip-top condition over the coming months:

Cleanse Gently

Harsh cleansers upset the pH balance of your skin, causing excess oil production and leaving it vulnerable to bacteria. Use a gentle balancing cleanser with anti-inflammatory ingredients to soothe skin, have a great selection, from as little as just £5.

Massage cleanser gently into the skin using a good Cleansing Brush, such as First Step, which balances out excess oils and softens your skin, right from the very first use. Cleansing brushes are essential to your cleansing routine as they avoid cross-contamination of bacteria from your hands and allow deeper absorption of the product.

Avoid Heavy Exfoliators

Some Exfoliators are too harsh and damage the skin, leading to even worse breakouts, which is bad news. First Step uses our award-winning Vibra Sonic technology to gently wobble dirt out of pores, in a way that our fingers can only dream of doing! Dead skin cells are gently buffed away to ensure cleanser and moisturiser supercharge their way into the skin. Suitable for even sensitive skin.

Moisturise Carefully

Many products designed to combat blemish-prone skin are too drying and can even trigger extra oil production (avoid alcohol-based toners). Look for oil-free moisturisers and use immediately after cleansing to ensure the product is easily absorbed. Anything containing Salicylic Acid is your new BFF – it is naturally-derived and won’t dry your skin.

Clean Your Makeup Brushes

None of us want to hear this, but makeup brushes and sponges are a breeding ground for bacteria and should be washed every 2 weeks. Use facial cleanser or shampoo in warm water and leave to dry flat. Magnitone products all contain Biomaster antibacterial protection on every bristle and have replaceable brush heads, to prevent those unwanted breakouts.

Don’t Overload Your Makeup

At the first sign of a blemish we all reach for the concealer and foundation to do our best to hide it. Be sure to invest in mineral-based cosmetics which soak up excess oil and don’t clog your pores. Also, use foundation sparingly, the more you apply the less your skin can breathe. The BlendUp brush is especially good for avoiding this, as a tiny amount of foundation covers your entire face for a natural, healthy, even skin tone.

Watch your Diet

Many skincare experts believe dairy triggers break-outs, so swap dairy for goat’s milk or plant-based alternatives, such as almond or coconut milk. We all know the importance of a balanced diet, but it will really make a huge difference to your skin.
